A new collaboration with the POCITYF project
We’re pleased to highlight the POCITYF project, a HERIT4AGES partner in Europe’s drive to create sustainable, energy-efficient cities while preserving historic and culturally significant urban areas. As a fellow Built4People cluster initiative, POCITYF is revolutionizing how cities approach energy consumption and decarbonization while maintaining the cultural identity of historical sites.
POCITYF’s primary objective is the development of Positive Energy Districts (PEDs) - urban areas that produce more energy than they consume by integrating local renewable energy sources. Their vision is to make cities more sustainable while ensuring that historical buildings remain protected and functional for modern use. POCITYF seeks to demonstrate how historic cities can leverage 21st-century technology to become smarter and more energy-efficient without compromising their cultural heritage by focusing on retrofitting, renewable energy integration, and citizen engagement.
Similar to the mission of the HERIT4AGES project, POCITYF balances innovative energy solutions with the preservation of cultural heritage. Both projects focus on sustainable approaches that respect the authenticity of historical areas while optimizing them for energy efficiency and reduced carbon emissions. By combining cutting-edge technology with heritage-friendly practices, they help cities transition to a low-carbon future.
HERIT4AGES and POCITYF share the goal of advancing these technologies across Europe, showing how urban environments can achieve energy efficiency while protecting their invaluable cultural identity. By collaborating in these common areas, both projects contribute to the European Green Deal objectives and move toward a smarter, greener future.
