Introducing CMF - Camara Municipal do Funchal
Based in the heart of Madeira, Portugal, Camara Municipal do Funchal (CMF) is dedicated to enhancing urban planning, governance, and sustainability in collaboration with local communities. CMF’s core focus is to ensure sustainable and resilient urban environments in which energy efficiency, inclusivity, and quality of life are prioritized. The municipality has played a significant role in promoting renewable energy and ecological solutions, with a particular emphasis on preserving Madeira’s rich cultural heritage.
In Herit4ages, CMF leads the Portuguese Living Lab, working on defining the social baseline of project stakeholders and local communities. CMF is actively involved in analyzing local governance models, stakeholder dynamics, and the needs of vulnerable groups. Their approach incorporates research methods such as interviews, workshops, and surveys to understand the specific requirements of the inhabitants and stakeholders at the demo sites. CMF is also involved in the integration of various energy solutions, such as energy router systems and advanced sensors, developed under the project to ensure seamless and efficient energy management.
CMF’s work ensures that the project’s sustainable solutions are thoughtfully aligned with local governance frameworks and community expectations, contributing to better energy integration and social inclusiveness in the cultural heritage conservation process.
