Introducing FuturHist

FuturHist is pioneering the development of energy-efficient retrofit solutions specifically tailored for historic buildings. With demonstration cases in Poland, Spain, Sweden, and the UK, the project focuses on innovative methods such as bio-based materials, internal insulation systems, window retrofits, HVAC upgrades, and renewable energy integration. The mission of FuturHist is to enhance energy efficiency while preserving the historical integrity of these structures.

The project begins with comprehensive research to identify barriers faced by practitioners, building owners, and public authorities during the retrofitting process. This includes analyzing policy frameworks at local, regional, national, and European levels. FuturHist collects detailed data on building characteristics and energy performance to ensure the solutions are effective and replicable.

A cornerstone of the project is the creation of a multidimensional decision-making toolkit. This toolkit integrates the best guidelines and tools to support informed, holistic renovation decisions, making the retrofitting process more streamlined and efficient.
