Introducing Foundation Santa María la Real
Founded in 1977, the Foundation traces its origins to the 'Amigos del Monasterio' (Friends of Monastery) Association, dedicated to promoting the restoration of Santa María la Real Monastery in Aguilar de Campoo (Palencia) under the leadership of José Maria Pérez 'Peridis.' Officially established on 24 June 1994, the Foundation transformed into a private non-profit cultural foundation with international reach.
Foundation Santa María la Real's dedication to sustainable heritage management and preventive conservation is integral to achieving the project's objectives. As the developer of the monitoring system integrated into the HBIM-based Digital Twin Platform, FSMLR ensures effective data collection and analysis. The Foundation also takes charge of coordinating two crucial case studies: the Romanesque hermitage of Canduela and Posada Santa María la Real in Aguilar de Campoo.
Additionally, it oversees the implementation of innovative solutions across all five demo sites, assessing their impact and leveraging expertise in data interpretation and dashboards. Through collaboration with both public and private stakeholders, FSMLR actively contributes to the project's success, ensuring alignment with the broader goals of sustainable heritage management.
