Tyndall National Institute

The Tyndall National Institute is a major research centre based in Ireland's University College Cork (UCC). It is a leading European deep-tech research centre in integrated ICT (Information and Communications Technology) and energy research, focusing on photonics, electronics, energy, and networking. Tyndall collaborates closely with UCC and leverages its academic resources.

Within the recently completed Horizon 2020 program, they participated in over 111 projects, with a total value approaching €800 million, including substantial co-funding from industry partners. Their involvement significantly contributes to Ireland’s overall success in Horizon 2020, accounting for approximately 10% of the Irish drawdown.

International Energy Research Centre

The International Energy Research Centre (IERC) is a research organization originally founded within Tyndall. It focuses on energy efficiency, sustainable energy systems, and smart grid technology. While it operates independently in its research efforts, it remains connected to Tyndall and UCC due to its origins and collaborative research initiatives.
