Herit4ages Installed Sensors in Italy

On January 10th and 11th, the technical team from Foundation Santa María la Real visited the Heritage Living Lab at the University of Bologna Engineering Building. This visit marked a significant milestone for Herit4ages as the team installed advanced monitoring sensors, contributing to the ongoing efforts to protect and preserve cultural heritage.

A total of 24 control nodes were installed throughout the building, equipped to collect data on 15 critical parameters. These include:

  • Environmental conditions: Temperature, relative humidity, and luminosity.

  • Air quality: CO2, TVOC2, particulate matter (PM), formaldehyde (HCHO), and ozone (O3).

  • Occupancy monitoring: Person counting sensors for entrances and exits.

  • Structural and energy monitoring: Magnetic window contacts and current sensors.

  • Other parameters: Air pressure sensors and a weather station mounted on the roof.

This sophisticated monitoring system will provide comprehensive data to better understand the environmental and structural conditions affecting the heritage building, ultimately enabling data-driven decisions to ensure its conservation.

We extend our gratitude to our partner Foundation Santa María la Real and the team of the University of Bologna for support and collaboration during this installation.
